09.13.08ILM Delves into Feature Animation[caption id="attachment_180" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="ILM logo"][/caption] Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is set to make its first animated feature film, RANGO, for director Gore Verbinksi, as noted in this Anne McCarthy story on Variety's site. Interestinly, it is ILM that can be credited with initiating the modern age of computer animation when, in 1986, its computer animation division was sold to Steve jobs for the ten million dollars[1. Pixar sold].

There are two few female directors making films these days, and Bigelow is too good to sit on the sidelines like she has with years between projects. 09.11.08Arnold in Terminator: Salvation?If this report is correct, then Arnold will be appearing in Terminator: Salvation after all, but with the aid of another performer on-set with his face digitally added in post-production. That could make T4 very cool indeed, especially if they use digital imagery based on the Terminator's first appearance in the 1984 film, syncing Arnold's youth in that film with the future timeline of the story. 09.11.08More Riddick on the way?Intriguing--Vin Diesel hints that we may not have seen the last of good bad-guy Riddick in the last movie, CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, from 2004. This is surprising considering that the film was not considered a big success, grossing about $115 mil worldwide. Diesel said: “David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind." 09.11.08Lawsuit Claims Disturbia Infringed Rear WindowMore than a year after the movie came out, the Sheldon Abend Revocable Trust, which holds the copyright to the short story that is the basis for the 1954 suspense classic Rear Window, has filed a lawsuit against the filmmakers of Disturbia, claiming copyright infringement. Disturbia was widely promoted as a "teenage Rear Window." This lawsuit is something to watch closely, because its basis is that the filmmakers "stole" Rear Window; the case will turn on whether the plaintiffs can prove deliberate theft.
